FAQ

Q: Hemp hearts, shelled hemp seeds, hulled hemp nuts or hulled hemp seeds – which one is correct?

A: No matter how we call them, hemp hearts, shelled hemp seeds or hulled hemp seeds are one and the same thing: the core of the hemp seed. That means that we cracked open the seed & separated its core from its shell. If you are curious for more information, we invite you to discover more about how we process, pack and deliver to you all the goodness that lies in hemp hearts through our videos.

Q: How do you process your products?

A: The raw material with which we work is the hemp seed. Our main products are shelled hemp seeds, hemp seed oil and hemp protein powder. We crack open the hemp seeds at 200C/680F and end up with clear hemp hearts. On the other hand, we may choose to cold press (at 480C/1180F) our hemp seeds. This way, we end up with two delicious products: freshly green hemp oil and hemp cake. We grind the hemp cake into hemp flour, which is carefully sifted in order to separate hemp fiber from preciously thin grains of hemp protein powder. Q: What should I know if I am allergic to something?

A: Hemp seeds contain no known allergens. Plus, our products have no additives or preservatives. Hemp is also friendly with those who suffer from digestive intolerance (to gluten or to lactose). Regarding gluten, hemp seeds naturally do not contain it. However, some of our suppliers might be harvesting also barley or wheat. We carefully and repeatedly filter our hemp seeds, but it would take only 1 grain of wheat lost in 50.000 grains of hemp for cross contamination to happen.  If you are lactose intolerant but you miss dairy products, home-made hemp milk, cream or cheese might be just the right substitute.

Q: What is the difference between organic and conventional product?

A: Organic Certified are those products made from seeds harvested from crops grown on certified organic land; furthermore, they respect strict production standards and are verified by a government-designated organization. In order to be Certified Organic, at least 95% of the product’s content has to be organic and none of it should contain genetically modified ingredients. Conventional products are made from seeds harvested from conventional crops, using conventional farming techniques.

Q: What does NON-GMO mean?

A: NON GMO stands for Not genetically modified. This means that the product is just the way Mother Nature left it, with no lab control over its molecular structure. Our suppliers assure us of the NON-GMO feature of the hemp seeds that we process. As a result, our products, both organic and conventional, are not genetically modified.

Q: What does Kosher mean?

A: The foods that are called kosher are those who respect the regulations of the kashrut. All of our products are Kosher certified. In order to find out more about the laws of kosher, visit  http://www.ok.org/ or directly consult with a Rabbi.

Q: Where can I purchase your products?

A: Our products are available at Amazon. If you wish to place an order, visit our Products Page, and click on the Available at Amazon button shown below the product that interests you

Q: What is the difference between hemp and marijuana?
A: Cannabis sativa & Cannabis indica come from two different plant varieties, of the same species called Cannabis: Cannabis sativa is known as industrial hemp, while Canabis indica is known as marijuana. They are distinct strains with different and unique biochemical compositions, thus different uses. Think of the differences between two similar species of the willow tree, Salix alba and Salix babylonia, one harvested for aspirin from its bark and the other one, for wood. Marijuana is harvested for recreational and medicinal use due to its high concentrations of psychotropic component tetrahydrocannabinol (or THC); on the other hand, industrial hemp barely has traces of THC, with concentrations up to 100 times smaller.

Q: What is CBD?

A: CBD is a cannabinoid extracted for medicinal purpose from medicinal marijuana, and not from industrial hemp. Industrial hemp is the plant from which we process the seeds and contains less than 0.003% THC, making it an insignificant source of CBD.

Q: Why don’t hemp products always have the same color?

A: Each seed is a product of nature; for that, not one shall be identical with another. These slight variations in color are translated through the variable conditions in which the seed develops: the region, the soil, the season during which the crops were sown. These variations are only superficial and do not influence the quality, which stays the same.

Q: How do I store my hemp products properly?

A: All hemp products must be taken care of by storing them in a cool, dry and dark place, such as a pantry or a basement. After opening the package, it’s best if you store them in the fridge in order to preserve their nutritional value.

Q: I’m a blogger/vlogger/reviewer/ KOL on SM looking to review products, how can I get samples?

A: It would be our pleasure to hear your opinion on our products! Just give us an email at office@canah.com and we shall forward you more details about our blogger program.

Q: Does the package affect the product?

A: We carefully process our products, calibrating our machines and lab testing the quality of our products every step of the way. The care we treat our products is extended to delivering them to you in the safest packages. We pack our shelled hemp seeds and our hemp protein powder in food grade packages, which will preserve their nutritional value and will not transfer toxic substances to the food. Our precious hemp seed oil is packed in dark violet glass bottles, which are an excellent storage vessel; they offer protection from sunlight, do not interact with their content and preserve the nutrients perfectly.

Q: How can I make sure I benefit most from hemp’s nutritional powerhouse?

A: The best way to benefit through hemp products is to include them in your daily diet, in a perfect balance with other nutritious foods. We recommend a personalized daily intake on each product: 1 TBSP of hemp oil, 2 TBSP of hemp powder and 3 TBSP of shelled hemp seeds. Hemp foods are rich in nutrients and your body can become overwhelmed if you heavily add them to your diet. As long as you count hemp products as your protein and healthy fat sources and keep track of your meals, you will have a balanced diet.

Q: Have you considered giving your products an extra sweet kick?

A: Over the last 10 years, we have perfected ourselves in hemp seed processing and in hemp seed processing only. By devoting ourselves to this one magnificent seed, we have learned to understand what makes it unique and how we can benefit most from what it has to offer. At some point, we had taken into consideration the possibility of adding natural sweeteners to our products. We chose to stick to a clean, pure product because it is most valuable this way. We encourage you to personalize that extra sweet kick yourself while getting creative preparing fresh and delicious dishes.
